Born from a sweaty mishap Posy began with a very ordinary problem: my deodorant kept letting me down. I wanted to move away from antiperspirants and use an aluminium-free deodorant that allowed my body to sweat naturally. What I didn’t want was to spend the afternoon worrying that I smelled or end the day with itchy, uncomfortable underarms. I tried several natural deodorants, but none of them kept me feeling fresh for as long as I needed. So, as you do, I decided to make my own.

From my kitchen to yours

There was a great deal of trial and error. Some early versions worked better than others, but eventually I created a formula that kept me feeling fresh throughout the day, even after exercise.

It worked for me, but I needed to know whether it would work for other people too. I persuaded family and friends to test it and was delighted by their feedback. That was the moment I began to wonder whether my homemade deodorant could become something more.
I researched everything required to bring a cosmetic product to market, refined the formulas and had them professionally safety assessed.

That is how Posy was born.

Natural shouldn’t mean compromising

Posy is built on a simple belief: choosing a natural deodorant shouldn’t mean accepting that you’ll smell by lunchtime. Our deodorants are handmade with carefully selected ingredients and created to give you dependable, all-day freshness. Each one comes in a compact cardboard tube and can last for up to four months.

You don’t have to choose between a deodorant that works and one that avoids unnecessary plastic. Posy gives you both.

A growing passion for bars

Once I had started questioning the products in my bathroom, it was difficult to stop. I completed a course in natural haircare before developing Posy’s shampoo and conditioner bars, and I am continuing my aromatherapy studies to deepen my understanding of essential oils.

I love how a simple solid bar can replace another single-use plastic bottle without making your daily routine complicated. It turns out I have become rather passionate about bars.

Made by a person not a huge corporation

POSY  is a small independent British business. I care about the ingredients, the packaging and, most importantly, whether the products genuinely work for the people who use them. Every order, lovely message and returning customer still means an enormous amount to me. POSY is now stocked by a growing number of independent retailers and I am proud to be building friendships with customers and other small businesses who share our values.
This is only the beginning.

Plastic Free Statement

POSY's primary aim is to do good for people and planet. We achieve this by focusing on ingredients and packaging and are passionate about reducing plastic wherever possible.

Ingredients: We consider how abundant an ingredient is and whether by using it in our products we are taking scarce natural resources. We don't follow the crowd and will always research. We are mindful that ingredients have an impact on people, so use natural and organic ingredients in our products. We have our products certified and registered.

Packaging: We do not want to see POSY packaging on a beach in 50 years time. We even offer no packaging options.

What our business does:

• We are working hard to reduce plastic wherever possible. We have paperboard, glass and tins.
• We re-use paper from other businesses to package our products for posting.
• We use paper tape on boxes.
• We don't supply carrier bags at markets, most have their own anyway.
• We don't have plastic coated business cards. Most customers will take a photo if they want to save our details.

Our plastic free pledge has so far seen several changes already:

• We now re-use as many bottles as we can, re-filling them instead of replacing them
• We buy milk in glass bottles
• We recycle as much as possible
• Items are bought in bulk to reduce plastic waste and much more proactive searching goes on for ways to keep improving

Plastic pollution and the complete devastation it can cause to our planet, the people and animals has created a need for alternatives to single-use plastic and inspired us to do better. Working with #PlasticFree Thatcham and Newbury we are continuing to make changes to the way we do things in the future. We are determined to keep trying.
