My Story

Born from a sweaty mishap, POSY is Dale’s rebellion against rubbish deodorant.

“I just wanted a deodorant that didn’t let me down—or leave me itchy. So I made one.” – Dale, Founder of POSY London

I also have to admit that sometimes I do not smell as fresh as I would like to but did not want to use anti-perspirant deodorants anymore. I wanted to avoid alumimnium salts that block your sweat ducts, as sweating is natural and good for your body. I did not want to smell bad though.  After trying a few natural deodorants that never quite worked for the whole day I decided, as you do, that I would make my own.

After much trial and error I found a formula that worked for me, ever after excercise! I was pretty pleased but wondered if it would work on other people. So I tried it out on family and friends and got amazing feedback. I researched into what you would need to do to bring a product to market.

A chemist has certified my recipes and as you can say the rest is history and POSY was born.

My natural deodorants have received amazing feedback. The proof is in the using of it – try it you won’t regret it. Ingredients you understand that won’t do any harm to the environment.

I have completed a course in natural haircare, so there is an education behind the shampoo and conditioner bars. I am currently doing an aromatherapy course to expand my knowledge about essential oils and their benefits.

It took me ages to find a paperboard tube, but I’m happy to say that they are becoming more common. I love the idea of no packaging, so a shampoo bar and a conditioner bar eliminate the need for a single use plastic bottle.

I think Im going to be rather passionate about bars.

POSY is stocked in a some shops. I am making firm friends with other eco-friendly entrepreneurs and customers so it is onwards and upwards for POSY.

“I love essential oils and how you can harness the power of nature to support both mental and physical wellbeing"

Plastic Free Statement

POSY's primary aim is to do good for people and planet. We achieve this by focusing on ingredients and packaging and are passionate about reducing plastic wherever possible.

Ingredients: We consider how abundant an ingredient is and whether by using it in our products we are taking scarce natural resources. We don't follow the crowd and will always research. We are mindful that ingredients have an impact on people, so use natural and organic ingredients in our products. We have our products certified and registered.

Packaging: We do not want to see POSY packaging on a beach in 50 years time. We even offer no packaging options.

What our business does:

  • We are working hard to reduce plastic wherever possible. We have paperboard, glass and tins.
  • We re-use paper from other businesses to package our products for posting.
  • We use paper tape on boxes.
  • We don't supply carrier bags at markets, most have their own anyway.
  • We don't have plastic coated business cards. Most customers will take a photo if they want to save our details.

Our plastic free pledge has so far seen several changes already:

  • We now re-use as many bottles as we can, re-filling them instead of replacing them
  • We buy milk in glass bottles
  • We recycle as much as possible
  • Items are bought in bulk to reduce plastic waste and much more proactive searching goes on for ways to keep improving

Plastic pollution and the complete devastation it can cause to our planet, the people and animals has created a need for alternatives to single-use plastic and inspired us to do better. Working with #PlasticFree Thatcham and Newbury we are continuing to make changes to the way we do things in the future. We are determined to keep trying.
